Today I'm doing something a little different and taking you on a tour of my medicine cabinet. As I'm a bit short on storage in the bathroom, I keep only my absolute essentials in here, so everything is tested, approved, and loved. All my spare products are tucked away under my bed or in my much-loved train case for rotation into the cabinet.
Without further ado, I present my daily routine! Get ready, this is a bit of a long one...
Let's talk face first. I've been keeping my makeup routine pretty simple lately. It starts with a blend of Diorskin foundation and Tarte clay foundation (SO gentle on sensitive skin), a little Laura Mercier concealer under my eyes, and a dusting of Laura Mercier setting powder. Some Cargo blush is the final touch and my skin is good to go!
For eyes, I've always done a cateye, and I've found that Sephora's high-precision liquid liner is the BEST (long lasting, rich color, no weird shiny finish) even if you don't have a steady hand, and it's relatively inexpensive at $12. I touch up my brows with Glossier Boy Brow and curl my lashes and apply YSL Babydoll mascara.
When I feel that I need a little extra pop on my eyes or my skin, I use Clinique eyeshadow in Sugar Cane as a powder highlighter on the inner corner of my eyes, under my brows, and on my cheekbones.
Lips are where I've been switching things up lately. I've long been a fan of MAC's lipstick for the color selection, but the formula is just too drying for me, so when I got the chance to try some incredible Aveda products, I was sold. I'm currently swapping between the liner in Spring Rose (ideal if you're into MAC Whirl or Spice a la Kylie Jenner) and the lipstick in Sheer Clove, and LOVE the moisture they provide (bonus: they're minty!).
For my hair, I consider myself pretty low-maintenance. Daily, I always use Kérastase's Ciment Thermique for heat protection before blow drying and am out the door with a messy, low pony. On the days I want to actually style it, I'll add in different products depending on the style.
I almost always wash my hair every morning (I know, it's so bad! But I can't help how much I love the feeling of clean hair), but when I don't, I'll add in some dry shampoo and Bumble + Bumble Surf Spray before adding a few curls or throwing it in my go-to low pony.
Ok, finally skincare (whew! this post is getting long - hope you're still with me!). I'm religious about my skin, and have a very particular routine. Here we go:
I wash my face every morning & night with GlamGlow Powercleanse. In the AM, I'll apply Philosophy moisturizer with SPF as a base before my makeup. In the PM, it's Earth Tu Face balm, which is THE best product I have ever used... it's changed my entire skin texture and seriously makes me look like I have the skin of a 13 year old sans acne.
Every other morning, I exfoliate with Clinique's cleansing brush, and I do two different masks every week: I use an Origins charcoal mask to prevent & treat any breakouts (usually Thursday), and Korres Rose Sleeping Facial for a brightening effect instead of my regular balm when I go to sleep (usually Sunday).
For body, I use Aesop lotion daily and Palmer's Cocoa Butter when I need something richer. Oh, and I always apply Vaseline on my lips before I go to bed (a habit I lifted from the pages of Allure magazine when I was a preteen and have never given up).
That's the whole deal! It sounds like a lot all written out, but prevention goes such a long way, and I've noticed such a difference using some of these products. It's SO worth it in my book (especially that Earth Tu Face balm... really incredible).
If there are any must-haves for you, let me know! I'm always looking for the next great product and love recommendations.
